    Message From The Club Captain

Your Joint Club Captains, Katie Watkins and Andrew Macdonald, welcome you all to a new year of golf.  With the support of Alastair Rowton, Seniors Captain and Oli Godwin, Juniors Captain and a dedicated team of committee members as well as the many team captains, we are confident that 2022 will build upon Overstone Park’s many successes.

This year we have chosen to support Cancer Research UK, with one in two people diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime, the amazing work they are doing to fund life saving research is vitally important and we're sure it's a charity that is close to many of our hearts.

We will continue to support the Overstone Junior Scholarship by holding a special event on their behalf. Under the direction of Brian Mudge and Junior section coordinators they have raised the Scholarship to a level of national renown. We are also grateful to Laura Stockdale for her continued support for our elite and promising juniors who benefit from additional support from the Tim Stockdale Foundation to further their golfing development.

We are indebted to our Pro Shop team of Jonathan Ball, James Gardner and Karl Jayes for their professional service. The improvements they have made are already making a difference. Procedures for booking tee times, paying entry fees and recording scores are all under review to improve members’ experiences. The Pro Shop is also there to give you advice and guidance regarding golf etiquette i.e. repairing pitch-marks, placement of trolleys near greens, avoiding slow play and modern dress code. Please comply with their advice to make playing golf at Overstone Park a more enjoyable experience for all.  Further advice on etiquette and dress code is also contained in this diary so please read on.

We welcome Craig Morris as our newly promoted Course Manager. Craig has been a hard-working member of Overstone for many years and leads a talented team of deputy course manager Glen Craddock, Tom Henry, Warren Golding and Anthony Knott. They will continue to build upon the strengths of recent years which has led to Overstone becoming one of the best courses in Northamptonshire. Please continue to respect our Green Staff at all times as they work on the course. They always have right of way and appreciate your patience and a friendly acknowledgment.

We are very fortunate to have at the club our resident golf professional, Brian Mudge FPGA and tour professional, Harrison Woan. Golf coaching and club fitting facilities are available, both on course and in the on-site Grow Golf Coaching Academy studio.

All the Captains, committee members and their support teams look forward to working hard on your behalf to make 2022 a golfing year to remember. We know from our conversations with many members that there are concerns with course improvements and the ‘bedding down’ of the WHS in club competitions. We are working hard with OPL to address these concerns and are confident that 2022 will bring a number of improvements.

Please help us to help you achieve your goals, your feedback is always appreciated.

Best Wishes from your Joint Club Captains 2022

    Katie Watkins and Andrew Macdonald
