Winter Rules apply

Trollies and Buggies permitted

Message from the Greenstaff

A busy winter is ahead of us and although current predictions are it is going to be a very cold one, let’s hope it’s not too bad as we begin to start our winter development works. Filling in bunkers and renovation of the 13th path and 4th tee shall be the bulk of our work should weather and time allow. More information of this shall be communicated as we approach the start of the works in October.

Aeration (spiking), top-dressing and fertilising on the greens shall be ongoing to keep them playable through the winter, while discouraging disease and promoting sustainability. As is industry standard the heights of cut shall increase to help minimalize wear and tear on the course.

As the daylight continues to reduce the starting tee times shall get later for the greenkeepers to prepare the course, as of October 1st, 8am shall be the first tee time on the course.

As of November 1st the course shall be switched round to a 10th tee start, this gives the greenkeeping team time to assess the playing conditions down holes 3, 4 & 5 before play can commence on it and frost to disappear in this shaded area of the course.

I would advise any trolley users we shall be enforcing winter wheels as the weather deteriorates, which will be available in the golf shop and on our hire trolleys. Last year showed the huge advantage of using these in conjunction with trolley lines and roped areas reducing to damage greatly.

Have an enjoyable winters golf!
