SCORE CARD LOCAL CLUB RULES (SEE BELOW FOR FULLER RULES)
OUT OF BOUNDS (RULE 18.2 APPLIES)
Beyond any line of white posts. Beyond any boundary hedging or fencing.
Adjacent to the 2nd hole and 18th holes – the road and car parking areas and beyond.
PROTECTION OF YOUNG TREES (RULE 2.4 APPLIES, PROCEED UNDER RULE 16.1F & 16.1B)
Young trees identified by stakes or protective piping are no play zones:
If a player’s ball lies anywhere on the course other than in a penalty area and it lies on or touches such a tree or such a tree interferes with the player’s area of intended stance or area of intended swing, the player must take relief under Rule 16.1f.
Artificially surfaced paths, gravelled drainage areas, all fixed course furniture and fixed waste bins.
Temporary holes on the putting green. The sleepers in front of the 4th green.
Ball in General Area. The player may take relief under Rule 16.1b if an immovable obstruction (such as a sprinkler head) is: On the line of play and, is on or within two club-lengths of the putting green, and within two club-lengths of the ball.
NO PLAY ZONES (RULE 2.4 APPLIES)
The area defined by RED POSTS WITH GREEN TOPS to the left of the 12th, 13th and 14th holes is a No Play Zone. Entry to or playing a ball that lies within this area is prohibited. Players MUST take a compulsory penalty drop in accordance with Rule 17.1e. If a ball lies outside of the No Play Zone but required the player to stand in the No Play Zone, players must take FREE relief under Rule 16.1b.
Areas identified with a GREEN STAKE are No Play Zones. Players MUST take FREE relief under Rule 16.1f & 16.1b.
GROUND UNDER REPAIR - GUR
GUR may be defined by lines on the ground, signs stating ‘GUR’, or Blue stakes. FREE relief MAY be taken under Rule 16.1b, UNLESS the GUR is there to protect the course (ie new turf or seeded areas) when the area is then designated a No Play Zone when FREE relief MUST be taken.
GENERAL RULES AND INFORMATION

Players on the 1st tee must give priority to the 10th tee.
Players on the 9th tee must give priority to the 11th tee.
Players on the 4th tee must give priority to the 6th tee.
Players on the 15th tee must give priority to the 17th tee.
ADDITIONAL LOCAL RULES TO THE SCORECARD
Preferred Lies.
Preferred Lies (Winter Rules). When Preferred Lies are in force (see notice board by the 1st Tee), if a player’s ball lies in a part of the general area cut to fairway height or less, the player may prefer the lie within 6 inches.
Scorecards.
In OPGC Competitions players are requested to complete the following fields on their Scorecard (if not already there): Competition Name; Date; Player Name; Course Handicap; Marker’s Name.
Teeing Mats.
When teeing mats are in use, players MUST tee off from the Mats. They are NOT PERMITTED to use the 2 club length teeing area.
11th Hole. Cedar Tree.
The fallen cedar tree to the right of the 11th fairway is an Integral Object and no free relief is allowed.
17th Hole. Model Local Rule B-3 applies to the 17th hole. If, after hitting their tee shot from the 17th Tee, a player does not know whether their ball is in the penalty area in front or to the right hand side of the green, the player may play a provisional ball under Rule 18.3, which is modified in this way: (See here for official ruling: https://www.randa.org/en/rog/the-rules-of-golf/)
In playing the provisional ball, the player may use the stroke-and-distance relief option (see Rule 17.1d(1)), the back-on-the-line relief option (see Rule 17.1d(2)) or, the dropping zone located by the Forward Tee. Once the player has played a provisional ball under this Local Rule, they may not use any further options under Rule 17.1 in relation to the original ball. In deciding when that provisional ball becomes the player's ball in play or if it must or may be abandoned, Rule 18.3c(2) and 18.3c(3) apply except that:
When Original Ball Is Found in Penalty Area Within Three-Minute Search Time. The player may choose either to:
Continue to play the original ball as it lies in the penalty area, in which case the provisional ball must not be played. All strokes with that provisional ball before it was abandoned (including strokes made and any penalty strokes solely from playing that ball) do not count, or;
Continue to play the provisional ball in which case the original ball must not be played.
When Original Ball Is Not Found Within Three-Minute Search Time or Is Known or Virtually Certain to Be in Penalty Area. The provisional ball becomes the player's ball in play.
GROUND UNDER REPAIR - GUR
GUR may be defined by lines on the ground, signs stating ‘GUR’, or Blue stakes. FREE relief MAY be taken under Rule 16.1b, UNLESS the GUR is there for safety reasons or, to protect the course (ie new turf or seeded areas), when the area is then designated a No Play Zone and FREE relief MUST be taken.
DRAINAGE CHANNELS such as those on the 4th hole and across the 5th hole are GUR even if not positively identified as such.
TEMPORARY AREAS OF GUR AND NO PLAY ZONES
5TH Hole. Natural Spring. Right Hand Side
The area on the bank, on the right hand side on hole 5, as marked by stakes and rope, is GUR.
FREE RELIEF may be taken under Rule 16.1b or 16.1e. Alternatively FREE RELIEF may be taken within the Drop Zone to the rear of the area.
16th Hole. Old Bunker.
The area on the right hand side of hole 16, as marked by either blue stake or stakes and rope, is a NO PLAY zone for the protection of the course, this is not a penalty area.
Players must take FREE RELIEF by putting another ball in play under Rule 16.1b.
